Senior Rotary Equipment Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and technical activities for rotary equipment, including centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, compressors, centrifugal and axial fans/blowers, agitators and mixers, turbines and other rotating machinery as applicable
• Prepare and review equipment datasheets, mechanical specifications, requisitions, material specifications, and other engineering documents
• Establish equipment design criteria and develop technical requirements based on project specifications, process requirements, and applicable codes and standards
• Review process data and ensure correct equipment selection based on flow, head, pressure, temperature, capacity, efficiency, NPSH, operating conditions, and other relevant parameters
• Prepare and review Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and provide technical recommendations for equipment procurement
• Review vendor quotations and conduct detailed technical evaluation of vendor proposals; manage technical clarification cycles with vendors
• Review vendor documents, including general arrangement drawings, performance curves, hydraulic calculations, mechanical data, shaft and bearing data, seal arrangements, coupling details, motor/driver data, vibration requirements, inspection and testing procedures, and material certificates
• Coordinate with Process, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil/Structural, and other engineering disciplines to resolve equipment interfaces and technical issues
• Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, clients, and third-party inspection agencies
• Review and approve vendor drawings, calculations, data sheets, specifications, and technical documentation
• Provide technical support during procurement, manufacturing, inspection, testing, installation, commissioning, and start-up
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, vendor meetings, client meetings, inspection meetings, and project technical discussions
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
• Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in rotary equipment engineering, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, power, or industrial projects
• Strong experience in the engineering and technical evaluation of pumps, compressors, mixers/agitators, blowers, fans, and other rotating equipment
• Strong knowledge of applicable international standards, including API 610, API 685, API 674, API 675, API 676, API 617, API 618, API 682, API 614, API 670, ISO 5199, ISO 13709
• Experience preparing and reviewing equipment datasheets, technical specifications, requisitions, TBE, vendor documents, and inspection/testing requirements
• Good understanding of pump hydraulics, system requirements, NPSH, pump curves, minimum flow, cavitation, mechanical seals, bearing systems, lubrication systems, couplings, drivers, and vibration requirements
• Strong vendor coordination and technical clarification experience
• Good understanding of equipment interfaces with piping, process, electrical, and instrumentation systems
• Experience with API 610 centrifugal pumps and API 682 mechanical seals / seal support systems is preferred
• Experience with compressor packages and auxiliary systems is preferred
• Familiarity with API 614 lubrication and seal oil systems and API 670 machinery protection systems is preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills
• Ability to independently manage rotary equipment engineering activities and provide technical leadership

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
