Piping Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and review Piping Design Basis, Material Specifications, Line Lists
• Perform pipe stress analysis and issue stress reports
• Review and approve piping isometrics and 3D piping model
• Design pipe supports and guide support engineering
• Prepare piping engineering deliverables (MTO, valve lists, layout drawings)
• Coordinate with Structural, Mechanical, Process disciplines
• Attend model reviews (30% / 60% / 90%)
• Ensure compliance with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 570

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years with an engineering design contractor or engineering consultancy, on Pre-FEED, FEED or detailed design deliverables
• Personally authored or checked at least five of: piping design basis; plot plan and equipment layout; piping general arrangements and the 3D model; IFC isometrics; piping material specification, valve and specialty item datasheets; line list and wall thickness calculations; pipe support design and support standards; stress analysis and nozzle load verification; tie-in schedule; MTO and BOQ
• AVEVA E3D or PDMS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx or SmartPlant 3D used as a daily working tool; Caesar II for stress work; Navisworks for model review
• Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and of 3D model review at the 30, 60 and 90 percent stages
• Design experience is current - deliverables produced within the last 3 years
• Not qualifying for this role: site piping erection or fabrication supervision, spool shop work, field fitting, or as-built updating only.
