Senior Process Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed firewater and foam system P&IDs, including fire hydrants, monitors, deluge systems, and foam skids
• Prepare equipment data sheets and material requisitions to support vendor selection and procurement activities
• Produce fire and gas detection layouts and define fire and gas cause and effect matrices
• Provide safety engineering input and advisory support to multidisciplinary teams
• Perform Hazardous Area Classification studies in accordance with applicable standards
• Develop safety equipment layouts, including escape routes and emergency access provisions
• Prepare Emergency Response Plans aligned with project and regulatory requirements
• Manage and coordinate fire and gas mapping and QRA Consultants to ensure quality and compliance
• Define and contribute to HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA Terms of Reference (ToR) and participate in associated studies
• Develop and author safety philosophies, including fire protection philosophy, passive fire protection philosophy, and safety equipment philosophy

Requirements

• Strong experience in fire protection and process safety engineering within oil and gas, energy, or industrial projects
• Proficiency in developing firewater and foam system P&IDs and related engineering documentation
• Solid understanding of fire and gas detection systems, including cause and effect development
• Experience with Hazardous Area Classification and relevant international standards (e.g., IEC, ATEX)
• Demonstrated involvement in HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA studies
• Ability to prepare technical specifications, data sheets, and material requisitions
• Experience coordinating with vendors and external consultants
• Strong knowledge of emergency response planning and safety system design
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface across multiple disciplines
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Education

B.Sc. in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering (Safety specialisation preferred)
